Ao Nang is a rapidly growing village on the Andaman Coast, about  20 km east of Krabi. Ao Nang is bustling with tourists and can be considered Krabi's answer to Phuket with  its night life, restaurants, international food chains, souvenir shops,  tour agents  etc.

The white sandy beach of Ao Nang is about 2 kms long.  At the southern end at Last Cafe you can see monkeys playing on the beach. There are about 20 massage parlours offering their services starting at 200 Baht/hr. Last Fisherman Restaurant and Bar and the Last Cafe offer snacks during daytime at reasonable prices.  Three Resorts are lined up along this part of the beach. The noise of the longtail boats taking tourists to Rai Leh or one of the islands can be very disturbing.
Ao Nang is probably not the place to stay if you want a  beach holiday, but an ideal place for an active vacation and a perfect starting point to explore the beauty of Krabi Province. Take a boat to the islands, go rock climbing in Ton Sai, kayak through intact mangroves, just drive around and enjoy the  beautiful landscape, walk up 1200 steps to the summit of Wat Tham Sua, enjoy the marvelous sunsets, go diving or snorkeling and explore the underwater world of the Andaman Sea.

To begin with, find some of my favourite places to stay and to dine.
